I love the newDirty Beaches 2XLP. Its a masterpiece, and definitely Alex’s most accomplished work yet. This video embodies everything about his music perfectly. Bravo. As usual.
If you didn’t get a fancy white Zoo Music copy of Drifters / Love Is The Devil, grab the regular one from Midheaven here.
If you’re not on the Zoo Music email list, and you’re a Crocodiles fan, get on it now. Traditionally ZM releases will come out on another label, like Crimes Of Passion is on also on Frenchkiss. But for loyal email listers, you’ll get access to purchase and receive a Ltd edition colored vinyl before anyone else. The new Dirty Beaches was on Ghost vinyl. New track sounds rad, can’t wait for the album. Seems like just last week Endless Flowers debuted…
Tour Tape split between Dirty Beaches and homies TONSTARTSSBANDHT for their upcoming Russian tour. Ltd to only 100 copies and while already sold out from the label, TONSTARTSSBANDHTstill has copies available on their bandcamp. It went pretty quick from Space Bridge, but I think these copies are below the radar.
Also Alex’s sophomore 2XLP Drifters/Love Is The Devil is out soon from Zoo Music. The email list version is on beautiful white vinyl and is getting shipped a week early to all us lucky listers. If you missed out on that, guess you’ll have to settle for the regular one available from Midheaven here.
After Badlands came out, Alex had everyone and their mom knocking at this door wanting to put out his next record. But we are so happy and proud that he decided to come back to Zoo Music, and we are even more proud to announce that Dirty Beaches will be releasing a double LP on May 21st, 2013 (May 20th in Uk/EU, of course.) called Drifters/Love Is The Devil (ZM015)
Alex took it upon himself to release this awesome song from Love Is The Devil- and you will be able to hear something from Drifters soon enough. Zoo Music is a record label started for Artists by Artists and if Alex wants to leak one of his own songs, so be it.’ Both records together are 16 songs and about 75 minutes of music. Drifters/Love Is The Devil will also be available as a single CD and single digital download. As always, our mailing list subscribers will have a chance to buy the record early and get access to the mp3s- so if you haven’t yet sign up now. Drifters/Love Is The Devil is everything that made you fall in love with Dirty Beaches and more- more layers- more sounds and 100% sample free. Promise you won’t be able to stop listening.
Premier from Bad Expectations LP out 10/30 on Zoo Music
Some super rad glam rock/pop for your ears to feast on. I was already psyched for this album when I heard Showers of Pain a few weeks back, and now today you can officially order the vinyl and snag an instant download (if you’re a Zoo Music subscriber). There’s a lot of variation here in under 30min and at times it sounds like a combo of some Roxy Music & King Tuff at their best. I like that there’s also some female vocal support to further mix things up; I’m a sucker for female vocals.
Looking at that sweet album art, how could you not like this?
Punks On Mars - Bad Expectations LP ZM012 is up for pre-order from Zoo Music on Ltd Pink vinyl via secret link (↓↓↓ shhh!) for mail order subscribers. So if you missed it, sign up so you don’t next time!
Punks on Mars was formed as a recording/ art project by Ryan Howe in 2010. Emerging from his tenure as space-funk- cyber-punker Luke Perry, (2008-2010, r.i.p.) and a whole slew of other bizarro electronic projects, Howe began infusing rock n’ roll forms into his space-aged pallet , delivering low fidelity power pop and punk tunes alongside half-baked interstellar sewerscapes and radio jingles (see Punks on Mars, S/T).
After briefly touring America as a five-piece, Punks on Mars hit the studio to record the project’s first full band release, the forthcoming Bad Expectations, which features songs written by bassist/ pop mastermind Andrea Schiavelli (of The Eyes of Love, Polyester Raincoat).
Bad Expectations (Cat. #ZM012, LP & CD) comes out on October 30th, but mailing list subscribers will have the opportunity to buy it before it hits the shops- in a hot pink vinyl limited edition- only 200 made and those not purchased by mailing list subscribers will be distributed randomly to shops.
Plus,. as a thank you each mailing list purchaser will receive a gift from the ZooMusic back catalog: either a physical release (including out of print records) included with the hot pink vinyl Bad Expectations LP OR an immediate link to the entire ZooMusic catalog in MP3 format- election to be made at time of purchase.
Sounds like a boat load of reasons to sign up for the Zoo Music mailing list, if you’re not already on it. This seems distinctly similar to King Tuff, which ain’t a bad thing, and I’d say the only problem with this track is it’s too damn short. Keep your eye on Punks On Mars and Zoo Music.
Also if you can’t hardly wait, they’ve got a 4-track 7” available for sale now.
Dirty Beaches secret Badlands LP buy direct link from Zoo Music is up for all us lucky mail subscribers one week before release date everywhere else.
