Keith Fullerton Whitman - Generator 2 (Demo Video)

Maybe its the long delayed re-release of Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works Volume II on vinyl or the fact that I dug out my Sculpture Rotary Signal Emitter Picture-Disc LP for some spinning last night, but lately I’ve had my head stuck in experimental electronica of the most modular kind. After giving my Sculpture LP some love, I checked in with Dekorder and immediately was sucked into the strange world that is Keith Fullerton Whitman.
His eerie modular sounds are sometimes piercing and most other times beautiful, but they are always otherworldly. Its difficult to not imagine these cold, harsh sounds beaming directly from outer space, or accompany lunar walk footage. His work is almost psychedelic at times, and I enjoy the extreme experimental scope. Some tracks meander along, unsure where they’re going like random particles drifting. He’ll come across a sound, expand than recede and continue drifting. It feels like more of a participatory act than blindly listening to your spotify to fill to void of silence.
