Fear of Men - Mosaic

Fear of Men is one of the very best new bands of the past year.  I’ve been hypnotized and obsessed from the first listen just prior to the release of the Alice Munro Demos cassette about a year ago, and their videos are feat of beauty to match their music.

This is a video largely dominated by still images, where only the slightest body movements, or dust particles can sometimes indicate it is in fact video.  The imagery of the church, the passing & pouring of a bowl filled with inky water, the camera still as Jess comes into focus, you can tell every single shot was captured with the utmost care.  Quality > quantity is certainly the rule they live by, and unfortunately it leaves us always wanting more.  

Fear of Men - Mosaic 7” is out on Ltd hand-numbered turquoise vinyl from Too Pure now.  Get their singles now, because by the time they release a full length these first 7”s will be worth their weight in gold.

Crushed Beaks - Close-Ups

Loud & raw sounds set to strobe light = win.  Was very happy to find this in the ol’ inbox this week from Crushed Beaks.  These kids definitely have an immediately catchy sound, and I can only imagine how good they would be live.  They’re releasing a 7” featuring this track backed by Sun Dogs on Too Pure end of this November.  I’m getting mine now before its gone.
