Pixel Memory - Guardian

Dark Snyth Pop were the key words that caught my eye when scanning my email, and I couldn’t describe it in a better way, but I’ll try. Sounds somewhere between 90s electro and industrial, with absolutely killer female vocals that create a large atmospheric haunting effect. The 3 piece band is out of San Francisco, which is no surprise as the area has been churning out fantastic new artists recently.
If you’re a fan of Italians Do it Better, Class Candy, Chromatics, Memory Tapes then Pixel Memory is definitely for you. Lisa’s vocals remind me strongly of Ida No, but less glam, more serious. I’ve been listening to their 5-track Guardian EP, set for digital release this summer, and I am fucking blown away. The five songs on the EP were engineered, mixed, and co-produced by Mark Pistel of Hercules and Love Affair, so that should be another indicator of their level of commitment.
I’m personally hoping to see this make it to wax eventually, and with a debut release this strong, I can’t imagine it’ll have any trouble at all. Sign up on their email list to be in the know how here
