Brand new DOM track just launched an hour ago via Soundcloud by the band. These guys have been gaining attention and apparently have some tour dates with The Go! Team. I snatched their most excellent Sun Bronzed Greek Gods 10” on marble purple vinyl first time around from Burning Mill Records I think last summer? Can’t believe its been that long. My first introduction was a cassette limited to 12 I bought on a whim from them, supposedly to be given out at a show that was broken up by the cops. If you have any comment or more info on that cassette, send away. The Burning Mill Records release is on the second(?) pressing, this time blue vinyl, and you can grab that here limited to 405 copies(?)
The re-release is out on Astralwerks and you can snatch it from Insound on clear translucent vinyl here. Little confusing have two separate pressings out simultaneously from different labels?? Maybe one is the US release, who knows. I’d grab the Burning Mill Records copy of you care; 1 bone cheaper, and seems more limited. Plus I really dislike the new album art, original collage (below) was much better.
But all album art criticisms aside, Amazing EP. On my best of 2010 list and take this opportunity to acquaint yourself with this killer band.
DOM and Ayad of Passion Pit met on Cinco de Mayo 2K10 at a show in Boston. They partied it down and decided to do a single together. A few months later Ayad, DOM and drummer Bobby were in a Brooklyn studio laying down tracks. DOM called up Madeline and Brian of Cults to come hang for the session. They recorded some vocals and group claps. Here is the result. “luv it or h8 it” – Dom.
You can grab their most excellent EP, Sun Bronzed Greek Godshere from the good ol’ boys of insound. Its a gorgeous heavy 10” record on marble violet vinyl, or at least it was when I ordered it form the band many moons ago. Funny that they’re releasing a reissue when insound still has copies of the original, but I imagine there can’t be many of those left so grab one while you can. The reissue is on white vinyl. Completely underrated album from ‘10 and among my tops, so join in on the fun.
Listen to more track via their sound cloud here, Living in America is another standout, but I Wonder is still best. That last one blew my mind last summer when I picked up a cassette from them, #10 of 12 with a j-card sleeve stamped with lobsters. I think the back story description from them was they were to be given out at a show that got busted by the cops?? Please hit me up if you know that whole story, much love. xo
