Ombre - Weight Those Words

Super cool collaboration between Julianna Barwick and Helado Negro, out now on Asthmatic Kitty. I first stumbled on Julianna back in 09’ when I helped fund her vinyl self-release of Florine on Kickstarter, also my introduction to ks. She was definitely at the forefront of the new self release ks wave.
The combination of their talents has created an amazing ambient, experimental album, and its xtra impressive that its a full length, clocking in at 36min. Plenty of artists are collaborating for one off 7”s and such (Zodiacs on Captured Tracks was a recent fav), but to be able to work together so fluidly for an entire album is an accomplishment not to be overlooked.
Asthmatic Kitty:
The sessions for Believe You Me began in May of 2010. Says Helado Negro, “We really had no clue what we were going to make and we would just throw things out there and record. The majority of it took place at my personal studio, Island Universe Space. We would just jam or record vocal ideas or whatever; it was all just organic and at the same time we were getting to know each other even more as friends.”
