Holograms: s/t LP
CT-159
This year has seen non-stop super rad releases from one of my favorite bk labels, Captured Tracks, and the latest few are all right in line. While I’m still waiting for my DIIV release to ship, I was psyched to check out the full streaming albums from Holograms & Heavenly Beat. The former is pure post punk at it’s greatest, with the Swedish punk...

Selections from: Group Rhoda - Out Of Time, Out Of Touch, LSSN012 - Night School
Night School:
It is with a lot of pride that we can announce the debut recording from San Francisco artist Group Rhoda. What began with a desire to learn the machinations of pop music and the environment in which it is produced, has culminated in this, Group Rhoda’s (aka San Franciscan, Mara Barenbaum) debut...

Stealing Sheep New LP
Happy to have found these girls randomly prior to their 1st full length, due out August 20th. These are some real top notch tunes here, sounds like a mix of Mountain Man and maybe a little early Twin Sister, but with just a tad of snythy stuff goin on. Their voices and the harmonies are gorgeous, make me wish I’d know about them when this EP first released. I can’t imagine...

LSSN011: Golden Grrrls / Sea Lions - Tour Split E.P 7”
Actually was just actively looking for copy of this tour 7”, how convenient Night School read my mind:
Slumberland group Sea Lions came over to the UK for the first time in July 2012 to play Indietracks and embarked on a tour with UK group Golden Grrrls. To commemorate the occasion they released a limited tour 7” which...

EAGULLS - Coffin
Always funny when similar labels/bands come full circle. As I’m checking out the latest London DIY upstart, EAGULLS, I realize I actually picked up their second 7” split with Mazes when ordering the last Dirty Beaches 7” from Italians Beach Babes. I was all about that one for the Mazes tracks, little did I know…
Many of my favorite records are...

Peter Zummo - Song IV (Extract)
A little out of the box for usual material seen around here, but I do listen to a large selection of Jazz when I’m not blasting the latest Grimes 12”. This re-release of Zummo With An X on vinyl from Optimomusic caught my attention, particularly with all the rave reviews of the included track Song IV. Linked above is only an except from a newly...

High aura’d - Sanguine Futures
Bathetic:
Sanguine Futures opens with a slow crawl ; the burden of winter crawling across your back, reaching around your throat, grayed hands with frayed nails grip tight and pull you into an isolated realm of blissful purgatory. You’re only 2 and a half minutes in and creatures are crawling out of shadows and your breath is hanging heavy. John...

D I A N A - Born Again
A little late in the game, but I’ve been pretty hooked on this track lately from Toronto’s D I A N A. Definitely strongly reminds me of Keep Shelly in Athens, and I’m itchin to get my hands on some sort of vinyl goodness.
Apparently that dude jammin out on their second single, Perpetual Surrender, is Destroyer’s own sax player Joseph Shabason.
Oh...
