YONG YONG - Helder
More dark electro drone music for your late night drive. Creepy wind blow synth sounds drift from your boombox as what sounds like the ambient sound track to a faded horror film creeps in. If you liked the recent Sand Circles sand circled release from Not Not Fun, this is probably for you. Although from the 3 track preview on SNDCLD, YONG YONG has a more experimental vibe...

Cannot wait for the new Grass Widow LP! Having seen them twice live now, I can’t wait to catch them again. Love the adorable & quirky angle they take making this preview trailer, especially with the science lab coats.
Internal Logic LP is out May 29th on HLR Records (Hannah / Lillian / Raven) i.e. the band is self releasing. You can pre-order it from Midheaven here and the first...

Lovely interview from one of my favorite female artists, Class Actress. She comes off as well spoken and genuine. Which is a relief because sometimes seeing artists you love speak in person can be a let down. It’s like seeing your favorite character from a book you’ve read and read come to live in a movie, except they’re not at all how you imagined them.

Collateral - Desire EP
Collateral is a mixed Parisian trio, polarised between synthetic hints and electric inspirations. Qualified experts in melancholic dance music (majoring in suburbian minimal wave and Italians Do It Better productions), they have remixed artists such as Keren Ann, Arnaud «Blackstrobe» Rebotini, Chad Valley or Tanlines, and recorded a couple of EPs in association with...

Charli XCX - Dancing In The Dark
Apparently I Am Sound has signed Charli XCX and now she’s working on a EP to be released in May. Her self-described dark n goth infused pop backed by her killer British voice makes for a dangerously good combination, and I’m certainly looking forward to a physical release.

Dirty Beaches - Dune Walker b/w Rhythm Ace Dub 7”
Brand new Dirty Beaches 7” just surfaced on the tubes, with a digital release over on BnDcMp and a physical 7” record made in Germany with love from Slowboy. This release branches out into the strange, experimental, & often harsher live sound from Alex that he has been cultivating while touring live, while adding...

Visions Of Trees - TURN 2 U
Looks like these kids have some new tunes since last we heard their excellent Sometimes it Kills 7” from Moshi Moshi. Has a completely different feel from that first single, and its looks like they’re drifting toward a much more industrial electro dance beat based sound; see The Golden Filter or The Knife. I enjoy this, and I’m looking forward...

Tops - Diamond Look
Breaking News: Tops - Tender Opposites sees a super Ltd release on 12” vinyl
So there was a Ltd to 80 cassette non/us release that quickly sold out, and another Arbutus cassette/compact disc, but I’ve been holding my breath waiting/praying for a vinyl version to drop. Happy day as of 10min ago.
Tops - Tender Opposites 12” AC#14 is Ltd to 250 copies...

Heartsrevolution - C.Y.O.A.!
Been waiting an eternity for the full length from these guys to drop. I had thought after their release of the Are We Having Fun Yet Mixtape?, it was leading into a full length…but still not so much. Love these kids electro dance pop, and I can see their potential to become a viable touring band. At least they know it it taking forever as they jokingly...

Ku Klux Glam - No Zipper
Check out this super glam track for sure from Ku Klux Glam, the Brainchild Of Psych Masters Ariel Pink & R. Stevie Moore. Between the band name and album artwork, I’d say a great contender for most offensive in both categories, but the music is good! Has a majorly Roxy Music vibe coupled with harsh guitars. Thought this one would stay below the radar a...

Novella - Don’t Believe Ayn Rand
I love everything about these chicks off of Italian Beach Babes (Fear Of Men, Dirty Beaches). The music is my ideal girl vocal driven pop punk, akin to earlier (& better) Dum Dum Girl releases. The artwork is super rad, and definitely befitting of the music. AND the song title?! Fucking brilliant, super witty. I wanna see them kick it...
