Blackbird Blackbird - Fade to White (Feat. Emily Reo)
Two gems: Blackbird Blackbird with the help of Emily Reo is releasing a new 7” ltd to 500 copies via Firetalk on 11/23, so grab yours here. Firetalk has brought us other notable releases like the sold out Tennis South Carolina 7”. You can grab another Blackbird Blackbird 7” via Double Denim Records if one single isn’t enuff for you. Yum Yum.
p.s. completely unrelated, but did you know that the UN (yes the united nations) actually appointed a paid ambassador to extraterrestrials. I enjoy speculating on aliens & watching x-files as much as anyone, but seriously? Maybe it has something to do this this press release…
So some more on the Terror Bird/Certain Breeds 7” on posted on a couple days ago. Upon further listens I realized I like the Certain Breeds song as much as the Terror Bird. Always a good reason to invest a whole $4 bucks on their split. Also emailed the band and according to Corey “We have a full length, but its from 2007 and we hardly play anything off it anymore…We are recording right now and hopefully we will have another full length in the next little while.” He was also nice enough to send me a copy of said first album. Check out his other project Cowards here as well.
On Silver, Eternal Summers has streamlined and then leaped beyond their original sound. Where the EP was sun-drenched and simple, Silver is far-reaching and ambitious despite its minimalist drums-and-guitar cast. The album mixes 90-second fist-pumpers and dreamy, six-minute meditations, noisy highs, and uncomfortably quiet hums. Silver captures the energy of their live shows–which has inspired the lead single “Pogo”–and calls to mind early indie legends like the Raincoats, Galaxie 500, Beat Happening, and Unrest.
Eternal Summers debut LP Silver is Out today from Kanine Records. Order the vinyl and get the mp3s immediately.
Skulls on a silk shirt. Dark dark dark. Again. A little hope crossed out with a tipp-ex on a denim jacket. Keyboard worn out by the 80s, pop romance, the future combined with the past, Gloomy dances for phantom mirrors. TERROR BIRD is still Nikki Never. Sometimes, Jeremiah Haywood too. Vancouver behind rainbow-coloured sunglasses.
I listened to this at least 15 times last night, and played it twice on my radio show tonight. Yes its that addictive. Grab the Shadows in the Hall 7” from atelier ciseaux here while it lasts, only 300 copies and sure to disappear in a flash. A forthcoming album on Night People / Adagio 830 soonish?
New Terror Bird/Certain Breeds 7” split on translucent blue (mine was opaque marble purple) vinyl, around 300 copies according to Nikki & only $4 + shipping?!? What a deal. Message Nikki via wasteospace and get yours too before they’re gone.
Download the fantastic new Twin Sister track from Bandcamp here. If you missed Twin Sister’s vinyl EP Color Your Life on Infinite Best, Domino Records has re-released it along with their first long out of print Vampires with Dreaming Kids EP on an awesome double 12” EP. Except for some reason its costs more to ship it to the states (£16) than the release itself?! Do yourself a favor, save £16 & grab it from Norman Records instead; they’re good people.
*sidenote semi-rant: I Love Bandcamp. Why did it take so long for a site to accomplish simple, user friendly, aesthetically pleasing music hosting for bands? oh right effing myspace. I hope that rots in hell*
Haunting, eerie, beautiful, & perfect accompaniment to strange circus/carnival animals after hours photos. Single from from her Bandcamp found here. Her digital album is also freely available on Bandcamp as well here. Or grab her Witch Mtn cassette off Breakfast of Champs Records here. Cassette: highly recommended.
